As India, the world’s biggest popular government, prepares itself for another general race with 9 million surveying corners, more than 800 million voters, and costing about $5 billion – Newton Kumar, a newbie government agent gets himself endowed with an assignment that shows up misleadingly basic: directing decisions in a remote town in the wildernesses of focal India. The brambles abound with Communist guerrillas, who have been pursuing a decades old war against the state, even as the indigenous tribals live with no entrance to territory pleasantries. Directing ‘free and reasonable’ decisions in a minefield like this is no a piece of cake, as Newton learns through the span of this astounding day. Unflinching with the skepticism and risk surrounding him, Newton is resolved to do his obligation.
